The Graphic Edge was established by Clair Harrocks in 2003, an art director
with over 14 years commercial design experience.
“ The past few years have been a real learning curve
- as an industry graphic design has experienced
a number of changes which have affected the industry positively as whole.
Advances in technology have led to more
control for the home run business as well as increased process driven automation
for the
larger organisation. The focus of our work
has not changed, good design is about
capturing the attention of the end user and
communicating to them whether that is
through electronic or printed means.
“Having moved from working in the Thames Valley, it was interesting
to adjust to a very different way of working. I found that more
and more city-based businesses are turning
to country based graphic design companies. Moving to Wiltshire has allowed
me to become more focused on my environment and more visually aware, whether
that is concerned
with local architecture and conservation and
the relationship between that and signage,
local design, illustration or photography.
Design for me has become less about sitting
at a computer but more about design and it’s relationship with all
that surround it. It’s about
the right way of communicating and that has
really opened my eyes.
